About Us - President's Message
Club President 2011-12 Bev Haluschak
This year, the Rotary International Theme is
"Reach Within To Embrace Humanity"
The new logo demonstrating this theme pictures several hearts opening to reveal the Rotary emblem. The President of Rotary International for 2011-12 Kalyan Banerjee, explaining this theme, reminds us that "Whoever we are and wherever we live, each of us yearns for the same peace and contentment and for the same fulfillment in our daily lives. What we work to bring to others, we must first find within ourselves."
This is good advice. As Rotarians, we are committed to "Service Above Self" both in our own neighbourhoods and in the global community.
We look forward to your partnership and support as together we continue to advance the causes of literacy, accessibility, and the eradication of polio. New Generation initiatives, especially Youth Exchange programmes that promote global peace and understanding, continue to be a high priority.
If you see a need or have an idea for a community-enhancing project, talk to a Rotarian!
And what is a Rotarian? A Rotarian is a person who
...digs a well from which she will never drink;
...vaccinates children he will never meet;
...restores eyesight for those she may never see;
...builds a house in which he will never live;
...educates children she will never know;
...plants trees he will never sit under;
...knows real happiness that, as Albert Einstein said, can only be found by serving others.
