Youth Programmes

...INTERACT...RYLA...ADVENTURES...STUDENT EXCHANGE...

Thousands of people age 30 and younger participate in Rotary programmes to learn skills that will help them become future leaders.

Youth programmes allow participants to discover more about themselves and the world by participating in community projects, leadership training, or cultural exchanges. Young people also learn about the principles of ethics, service, and fellowship that Rotarians exemplify.

In Quesnel, Correlieu Interact was formed in 2007 and has had an outstanding 2010-11 school year. Our Club also sponsors participants in RYLA and several Adventures - we also welcome at least one student into our community every year from overseas.

Come back again soon - more details to follow!

Scholarships

In recent years, our Club has awarded two $1,000 scholarships to graduating students from Correlieu Secondary School. This years was no exception...and we wish Alyssa Gillin and Emily Galliazzo from the Class of 2011 every success as they pursue their post-secondary education.

Correlieu Interact

Formed in 2007, the Executive for 2011-12 will be forming itself early in the new school year, following in the footsteps of a highly successful 2010-11, when the Club held a dinner to raise $1,500 for Seasons House and ran a series of seminars in connection with The Girl Effect.

Rotary Youth Exchange

Rotary Youth Exchange students spend up to a year in a different country, attending school and living with local host families.

Whether it is Rotary's long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programs, students (age between 16 and 17, six months prior to departure) learn a new way of living, a great deal about themselves, and maybe even a new language.

Our Club is actively involved in Youth Exchange but will be taking a year off for 2012-13. If you or someone you know is interested in an exchange, however, please review the Program Guide and contact Rotarian Sheila Pritchard 250.992.6824.

For 2010-11, Bryn Bodman (left) went to Germany, and Wylie Mednis (right) stayed in Spain. Click on their pictures to read more.

Our 2010 Exchange Student from Albury Australia, Jordin Dalton, challenged us to raise at least $1,000 for PolioPlus during the month of July, in return for which he would have his first haircut since arriving in January.

He never stood a chance! Check out the results on YouTube

Adventures Programs in Canada

Rotary Clubs across Canada host and sponsor a variety of Adventure programs for youth, our leaders of tomorrow. These short term programs offer great opportunity for the Adventurers to explore their field of interest and also to experience Rotarians' hospitality.

Our club has sponsored participants recently in Forestry, Industry, and Tourism. If you, or someone you know, is interested in taking advantage of these great opportunities, our coordinator for 2011 is Rotarian Rebecca Beuschel   E-mail: rebecca@goldcity.net
